![]() ![]() ![]() In 1999, after 50yrs of service at Ansett Airlines, Jack retired. Pat and Jack stayed on in what was now a big house. In time the children became adults to lead their own lives. A horse racing betting syndicate ran for many years with the Spring Carnival being a highlight. ![]() The favoured football team was North Melbourne whilst there was always a soft spot for Fitzroy, thanks to Pat. Both coming from large families, many birthdays and Christmas gatherings were celebrated, as the stereo turntable got a solid workout with constantly changing vinyl records. From the backyard, the hangar could be clearly seen, as paddocks still far outnumbered houses.Ī seamstress before marriage, Pat loved being a mother and raising her four children. Jack worked in the hangar at Ansett Airlines which in the early days was based at Essendon Airport. As the years went by and their family grew, so two extensions were added along with a double brick garage. The loving smiles reflect the hopes and dreams that hopefully lay ahead for any young family starting out in life. Taken in the 1960's it shows a young couple and four young children in the driveway of their house. Buried deep in a Melbourne backyard lies a small, framed family photograph. ![]()
